WELLS
FARGO JAPANESE GARDEN Intensive Roof Project
This garden was a historically significant garden, which was originally designed by a Japanese master gardener to promote peace and tranquility. It is located at the top floor of the Wells Fargo World Headquarters in San Francisco and is surrounded by the corporate headquarters and boardrooms. It is visible to all during board meetings. The idea of the garden is to provide a soothing atmosphere for all who view it.
This project entailed the replacement of the existing
roof membrane, which was located under a historic
Japanese Garden. We were required to remove and preserve
all of the landscaping materials, including landscape
products, and to restore them to their original location
and condition upon completion of the work.
During the course of construction, the irrigation
system was upgraded to include a more efficient and
environmentally sound drip irrigation system with
integral timing devices to insure better water conservation.
Western Roofing Service was recognized for a difficult project that included removing a Japanese roof garden, cedar deck, the underlying concrete topping slab, and roof membrane, and installating the new membrane and reinstallating the garden. The work, completed in off hours, was scheduled so as to not disrupt the business activities of the Wells Fargo Bank world headquarters.
